Professor Marc Fontecave, who heads the Chemistry of Biological Processes laboratory at the Collège de France, specializes in biological chemistry. His work focuses on understanding the structure and reactivity of the active sites of enzymes - metalloproteins in particular, but also flavoproteins. Using a bioinspired approach, he is developing new catalysts, particularly for the development of energy technologies. This year's focus will be on recent developments in enzymology, leading to a better understanding of the structure and mechanisms of enzymes involved in the cell's metabolic and biosynthetic reactions.
