Abstract

Today, nearly a billion people in the world suffer from hunger. Yet we have the technical and scientific means to fight this scourge. A major international player in anti-poverty policies for several decades, Ismail Serageldin explains the causes of hunger, the issue of food security and the need to transform global agriculture. " It's time to use our scientific knowledge and technological advances to ensure that all people enjoy their human right to food security. We need to take new technologies from the laboratory to the field, in concerted global action. "
