Abstract

The "universal" is one of the fundamental notions in the history of relations between Africa and the West. Reinvested by the social sciences in order to be nuanced, complexified, if not reparametrized, it will be at the heart of the discussions of this inaugural round table. The model of the "universal museum" will be put back into historical perspective and observed through the prism of the contemporary world.
