Abstract

Each lecture was followed by a seminar given by an external speaker. The aim of the seminars was to give a slightly broader view of active matter, with presentations of specific active systems leading to original physics that was sometimes a little different from that presented in the lectures. One part of the seminars was devoted to recent developments in theory, and the other to experimental work, either because it was highly original (e.g. in fields quite far removed from classical physics) or because it was particularly well controlled and enabled precise quantitative comparisons between theory and experiment.
