This lecture will summarize the first steps of the discipline of paleogenomics, and how ancient DNA data can be used to better understand the diversification of African populations, including those of North Africa, the relationships between hunter-gatherer and agricultural populations, and the various migratory events that have taken place in Africa over the past millennia.
