It can be seen that the entire list follows a strictly geographical order, from south to north, starting with the 1st nome of Upper Egypt and ending with the 20th of Lower Egypt. Twelve columns remain, none of which has been completely preserved. Since we know the height of the first register, we can assume that there were originally fourteen. Since the geographical list develops over the first six columns, this makes six times fourteen, i.e. eighty-four sections. As this number corresponds to two times forty-two, one might assume that each nome was the subject of two sections, but this is not the case, as the number of sections devoted to each nome ranges from one to several. The first four columns were devoted to Upper Egypt, and only two - columns V and VI - were reserved for Lower Egypt. The Athribis list is the only one, apart from those of Dendara, that identifies provincial deities with goddesses.
