I will be responding to Sloterdijk's leçon at the Collège de France, posing a question about what it means to take possession of the earth, and a question about the modern citizen's obligations in the era of globalization.

I am a professor of French & Italian literature and culture at Stanford, author of 5 books, all of which have been translated into French (by Flammarion and Le Pommier). I gave a course at the College de France in May 2010, invited by Carlo Ossola and Yves Bonnefoy .
