An incubator for young teams, the fruit of a partnership between CNRS and Collège de France
The Institut de Physique du Collège de France offers a particularly favorable scientific and technical environment for the incubator of young teams, the fruit of a partnership between the CNRS and the Collège de France. Its aim is to provide young researchers with the ideal material and intellectual environment to foster innovative research projects, until they reach maturity and are able to obtain a permanent position at another institution.
Young teams benefit from laboratory and office space, as well as material and administrative support. Initial funding is provided by a four-year contract, which also covers operating costs. As the teams' research develops, they can apply for new sources of funding.
The incubator is home to four permanent teams. These teams were recruited through an international call for projects, open to young researchers who had obtained their doctorate within the last ten years and already had significant post-doctoral experience, as well as an appropriate research project. After an initial four-year period, the teams' activities are evaluated by the international scientific committee. The contract may be renewed for a second four-year period if the committee's opinion is favorable.
