The Institut du Monde Contemporain is dedicated to knowledge of contemporary societies. At the initiative of one of its professors, the Institute organizes seminars, study days and colloquia devoted to cross-disciplinary subjects common to the various chairs in anthropology, international law, economics, history, political and social sciences that make up the Institute.
It is a flexible structure within the Collège de France, designed to foster intellectual exchanges and related or joint projects, offering a platform for collective research and a multi-disciplinary approach.
The Institute's Chairs are housed in renovated premises on the Collège de France's Ulm site. Indeed, this architectural renovation reflects an intellectual project and specific ways of working and collaborating. The Institut du Monde Contemporain draws on the vitality of the international networks in which its various Chairs are embedded. Its premises are designed to encourage intellectual work, whether personal, communal or in teams, and combine small seminar rooms with conference rooms, offering a large capacity for hosting visiting foreign scholars.
