In partnership with the Collège de France, iReMMO, AFP and France Médias monde, the Arab World Institute is launching a new event to decipher current affairs.
Connected to the flow of information, the Rendez-vous de l'actualité is a moment of deciphering, exchange and perspective for all, on the latest events in the Arab world. Set a few days before the event, the subject, question or event discussed will be drawn from the region's immediate news, to keep as close as possible to what's happening.

"Where does Palestine stand today?
Clashes between militants of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Israeli forces have been destabilizing the region since November 12. These skirmishes put an end to a brief period of calm following the truce negotiated between Hamas and the Hebrew state. Shortly afterwards, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Washington's intention to no longer consider Israeli settlements illegal under international law. This was followed by a wave of demonstrations on Palestinian territory, calling for an end to the occupation and blockade of the Gaza Strip. To date, dozens of Palestinian civilians have lost their lives since the start of Israeli bombardments last month.
So what does the announcement by the American authorities and the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian clashes mean for the future of Palestine?
