A good knowledge of cuneiform is required for the seminar.

Following a historiographical review of covenant pacts from the Palaeo-Babylonian period, we will systematically examine allusions to the formulation of commitments: deletions or additions of clauses or other elements in the text of the oath to be sworn. This will be followed by a detailed examination of recently published treaties from the Palaeo-Babylonian period, originating in Diyala (CUNES-49-04-176, Semitica 56) or Tell Leilan (PIHANS 117 LT 1).
