Climate change : how do we know what we know ?

Even if the reality of the causes and potential consequences of climate change is virtually unchallenged, few people are aware of the observations, analyses and validations that have led to scientific consensus. In this lecture, we therefore propose to look back at a number of themes directly related to climate, to describe the measurements and interpretations used by the scientific community to deduce the message delivered to the public. In this context, satellite observation plays an essential role. We'll be talking about atmospheric composition, the greenhouse effect, rising sea levels, and climate modeling. The aim will also be to discuss what is the scientific consensus, and where there are still significant uncertainties. The lectures will be supplemented by seminars given by specialists in the field to go into greater depth on some of the topics covered.
