Abstract

Feeling the warmth of the sun's rays on your skin. Following a flock of birds in the distance. While our senses enable us to apprehend the world around us and act accordingly, they also introduce biases into our understanding of biodiversity and its dynamics: biases towards species our size, terrestrial species, species that interact with us, adults, males, morphological traits, our Western worldview... Becoming aware of these human biases concerning the living world, and attempting to overcome them, is an essential step towards tackling the current biodiversity crisis.
