Abstract

Throughout its architectural and stylistic evolution, the garden has never ceased to reflect a vision of the world as it approaches an ideal of life. Originally an enclosed space, the garden changed scale in the 20th century, driven by an awareness of ecological finiteness : it became planetary.

To preserve this space, which is subject to the laws of the market and growth at all costs, the gardener must listen to the natural genius : imagine, create and maintain the garden in its dynamic aspect, respecting the development of species and their migrations.
