It's not enough to shift our gaze from founding prohibitions to fundamental rights, to solve the enigma of a community that extends to the entire planet, while value choices remain marked by the diversity of cultures.
Our hypothesis is that the implementation of human rights and global public goods could provide an answer: from the renaissance of natural law to the birth of a common law, the mutation underway heralds the emergence of values that are, if not universal, at least universalizable.
It remains to be seen how the law can help to establish a hierarchy of values and make those who transgress them accountable - the two conditions for a genuine community of values.
