Summary
The Latin tradition of the Middle Ages and modern times, right up to Erasmus, is based on the principle of universals: " universalia tantum ". In the age of globalization, this legacy has a fundamental value: it is important to rediscover a minimum of values that can be shared - the "essential" - and recognized by everyone, everywhere: the "universal". This closing lesson suggests a few points from which our human condition ofabalietas - "abaliety" - constitutive of each and every one of us, can show us the way forward, by giving it a meaning that is truly oriented towards others: "von seiner / expatriierten / Bedeutung" (Paul Celan).
