The destinies of the Indian and Iranian communities followed distinct readings: for the Parsis, the 19th century was a time of emancipation and wealth. For the Mazdeans of Iran, the 19th century was a time of repression and loss. So the Parsis set about improving the situation of the Mazdeans of Iran. The high point of this endeavor was the abolition of the jizya, followed by the organization of education. This development has often been seen as the seeds of the reform that took place in the 20th century. In the 20th century, and even more so in modern times, the world's Mazdean communities find themselves confronted with multiple social and religious difficulties. The question of the influence of Western studies of the Mazdean religion needs to be addressed.

In conclusion, the broad outlines of a three-thousand-year history have been revisited.
