The Collège de France is inaugurating a partnership with the Musée d'Orsay, offering its teachers an unprecedented insight into its collections. For this first conference, William Marx and Stéphane Guégan will speak on Wednesday October 16 2024 at 12 00 on the Musée d'Orsay auditorium stage.

Drawing on their respective fields  history, literature, sociology or philosophy, the Collège de France professors bring an erudite, offbeat reading of their favorite works, and a fresh look at the 19th century.

This discussion will focus on two sculptures of Degas and Mallarmé by Paul Valéry, dating from 1910 and from the collections of the Musée d'Orsay.

Speakers

  • William Marx, Professor, Comparative Literatures, Collège de France ;
  • Stéphane Guégan, Scientific Advisor to the President, Musée d'Orsay.
