The Collège de France inaugurates a partnership with the Musée d'Orsay, offering its professors an unprecedented dive into its collections. Drawing on their respective fields of expertise, Collège de France professors will offer an erudite, offbeat reading of a work chosen from the collections, and a new perspective on the 19th century, in the form of a dialogue with Musée d'Orsay curators.
The meetings will take place in the Musée d'Orsay auditorium on the following dates:
- Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 12 p.m.: Pr William Marx and Stéphane Guégan, around two sculptures representing Degas and Mallarmé by Paul Valéry.
- Wednesday November 27, 2024 at 12 pm: Pr Pierre-Michel Menger and Jean-Rémi Touzet, on Seurat's L'Étude pour un dimanche à la Grande Jatte .
- Wednesday December 18 at 12 pm: Pr Thomas Römer and Laure Chabanne, on Alexandre Cabanel's painting Le Paradis perdu.
Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 12 pm: Pr Antoine Compagnon and Isolde Pludermacher, on the pastel Ludovic Halévy and Albert Boulanger Cavé dans les coulisses de l'Opéra by Edgar Degas.
