"Lebanon: uprising or revolution? "

For over a month, Lebanon has been living to the rhythm of a popular movement, uniting many Lebanese regardless of their geographical, social and religious origins.
1.5 million citizens gathered on October 17, 2019, to protest the government's announcement of a tax on the Whatsapp social network, and its ineffectiveness in dealing with the fires that have ravaged part of the country. This discontent is also rooted in the social and economic difficulties that have weakened Lebanon for several decades, as the country struggles to recover from civil war. Protestors blame the political class for the inertia of public policies in the face of rising unemployment, inequality and widespread corruption. In the face of demands for radical change, ranging from the resignation of the government to the abolition of the confessional political system, the promises of the powers that be failed to satisfy the demonstrators. How can we understand the genesis and consequences of this mass mobilization?
