Claudine Tiercelin, new member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques

The Académie des sciences morales et politiques elected Ms. Claudine Tiercelin this Monday, December 4, 2017 in the Philosophy section.

Ms Claudine Tiercelin, holder of the Metaphysics and Philosophy of Knowledge chair at Collège de France, was elected in the third round of voting against Mr Philippe Raynaud, Professor of Political Philosophy at Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and member of the Institut Universitaire de France.

Founded at the end of the 18th century, the Académie des sciences morales et politiques is the oldest French institution devoted entirely to the study of the humanities. It has some fifty members divided into six sections according to their specialties, including the Philosophy section.
