Games at the Collège de France

On the occasion of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024, the Collège de France, in partnership with France Culture, is organizing a major series of roundtable discussions to accompany the arrival of the Games.

Seven dialogues between science and sport, free events open to all, will be held from February to July 2024 in the Marguerite de Navarre amphitheatre at the Collège de France. They will provide the general public with an opportunity to put into perspective the issues surrounding sport, performance and Olympism, in terms of both current events and history : sport and migration ; celebrity and representations of athletes ; history and historiography of the Olympic Games ; physiology and biology of performance, ancient and modern games, sports law and economics, the evolution of the human species from the point of view of effort and performance, etc.

The speakers, each of whom will include a professor from the Collège de France, will be led by Emmanuel Laurentin, ambassador of the Grande Collecte des archives du sport and producer at France Culture.

Audiovisual recordings of each conversation will be made available on the Collège de France website.

Scientific coordination : Patrick Boucheron, professor at the Collège de France, and Emmanuel Laurentin, ambassador of the Grande Collecte des archives du sport and producer at France Culture.

In partnership with France Culture and with the support of RATP, the City of Paris and ARTE. This project has been accredited by Paris 2024 as part of the Cultural Olympiad.

Free admission, without prior reservation.
