Type, style, hand - Collective standards, individual variations and the evolution of handwriting

The fact that a script belongs to a " type " and/or to a " style " reflects learning and the prevalence of reference models, while the " main " of each scribe is on the side of performance, the more or less competent, disciplined or inventive realization of these models. The aim of our study day is to shed light on the relationships between these instances, in play, diachronically, in the general evolution of writing. In particular, it will be an opportunity to reflect on the principles according to which paleographers in different fields construct and use their typologies.
