The electrochemical storage of energy, both for the exploitation of renewable energies and for the development of electric vehicles, has become one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Batteries, and in particular those using Li ion technology, are currently the most coveted for their high-volume applications, subject to cost reduction and improved safety. This last point has been the subject of much media debate in recent months, but what is really happening to the safety aspect? To answer this question, RS2E is organizing a one-day conference and debate on the safety of Li ion batteries. The conference will be primarily educational and informative. It will bring together presentations by international scientific experts covering (1) materials, systems and electric vehicle integration, as well as (2) the risks to users in different scenarios. The debate will conclude with a round-table discussion.
