How did life emerge ? Is life possible, or has it been possible, elsewhere than on Earth ? What is a habitable planet ? And how can we search for life elsewhere than on Earth ?

If the existence of another form of life in the Universe is a subject that has fired our imagination for decades and borders on the metaphysical, it's also a subject of research for many scientists, notably at the CNRS. As part of the launch of the France 2030 Origins research program, three of them will be giving you the keys to their field of study, in three short talks for the general public, followed by a discussion session with the audience.

  • Extraterrestrial samples in search of life elsewhere in the solar system (Jean Duprat, CNRS researcher at the Institut de Minéralogie, de Physique des Matériaux et de Cosmochimie)
  • Conditions for the emergence of living systems (Grégoire Danger, professor at Aix-Marseille University)
  • Characterizing habitable planets (Claire Moutou, CNRS researcher at the Institut de recherche en astrophysique et planétologie)
