Symposium

Ecological Principles Underlying Ecosystem Function on Land and in the Ocean

See also:

To discuss the structuring of both terrestrial and marine ecosystems, including both the macro- and microscopic components, in terms of both ecological and evolutionary principles, BEF concepts, etc, with the aim being to contrast what we know of land ecosystems vs. ocean ecosystems, how knowledge from one can inform the other, what are the barriers and limits to this flow of information, and whether some aspects are likely to be fundamentally different between micro-/macro-organisms and between land and sea. We will aim to generate a review/opinion paper after the event, aimed for example at how to integrate the knowledge into earth system models.
