Jacques Glowinski, Doctor of Pharmacy and Science, was Professor of Neuropharmacology at the Collège de France from 1982 to 2006. His most important work focused on the mechanism of action of neurotransmitters and psychotropic drugs, the analysis of dopaminergic systems and the study of neuronal circuits under their control. Their alteration and degeneration are at the root of the disorders observed in schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease. He created neuropharmacology in France, and trained numerous French and foreign researchers in his laboratory.

Administrator of the Collège de France from 2000 to 2006, he played an essential role in the architectural renovation of the establishment, the organization of its research and its openness to society in general. The tribute to be paid to him, following his death in 2020, will highlight his passion for the Collège de France and his various contributions to the institution's influence.
