Abstract

" I only have faith in art, and without it, I'm lost. "

I often lock up paintings in the darkness of a container for many years. What do the paintings do when they're locked away for so long, until the moment when they come to mind and beckon? What? Certainly not, since they've managed to muster the strength to draw attention to themselves. Once I've freed the canvas from the darkness, I repaint it and transition to another state.

Self-destruction has always been the most intimate, sublime goal of art, whose vanity then becomes perceptible. Whatever the force of the attack, even when it has reached its limits, art will survive its ruin.
