Abstract
Zimri-Lim's private secretary, Šunuhra-Halu , is well known to us: it was he who read to the sovereign the mail from the kingdom's officials, and wrote the letters the monarch sent in reply. The title of another close relative of the king, named Dariš-libur, remains unknown : I have suggested that hewas the chief barber, whom the king by definition trusted completely. His duties were not limited to the king's personal care and attire : he was also entrusted with highly delicate diplomatic missions. Cupbearers were also individuals who had to be above suspicion.
