Abstract

Jurists, like everyone else, whether philosopher or man in the street, were aware of man's constitutive dualism, the unity of body and soul (better still, of corpus, animus, the rational component of interiority, andanima, the sensory component). They used this dualism in various contexts: the " corruption " of slavery, the sale of slaves on the market and, above all, in the configuration of possession. In all these cases, the anthropological datum is deconstructed and reassembled according to the needs of the law, which grasps the exteriority and interiority of the human being through language, notably through metaphors. When man enters the law, he leaves transformed.
