PAUSE program

In many countries, researchers and artists cannot exercise their profession freely and are forced into exile.

That's why, since 2017, the PAUSE program has been supporting them so they can continue their work.

Through incentive funding, we enable scientists and artists in exile to be hosted in higher education and/or research establishments and cultural institutions in France. We also assist them in their professional integration.

These researchers and artists face dramatic situations that require our mobilization.

By choosing to help them, we are preserving knowledge and research that can benefit everyone.

The PAUSE program, a national emergency reception program for scientists and artists in exile, is run by the Collège de France with the support of the French Ministries of Higher Education and Research, the Interior, Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Culture, as well as numerous partners from higher education and research, culture and civil society. Its Executive Committee is chaired by the Administrator of the Collège de France. Collège de France is also responsible for hosting the program, as well as its administrative and budgetary management.
