A graduate of Télécom Paris, Serge Abiteboul holds a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California and a doctorate from Université Paris-Sud. He has been a researcher at the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control since 1982. He has been a lecturer at the École Polytechnique and a visiting professor at Stanford and Oxford Universities. Serge Abiteboul received the ACM SIGMOD Innovation Award in 1998 and has been a member of the Académie des Sciences since 2008. He is currently a member of the LSV at the École normale supérieure de Cachan and was awarded an ERC Advanced Grant in 2008. His research focuses on information management, particularly on the Web.
