Julien Dechevez holds a master's degree in classical languages and literature, and is currently working on a doctoral thesis at the Université de Liège, under the supervision of Vinciane Pirenne-Delforge (Université de Liège - Collège de France) and Jan-Mathieu Carbon (Queen's University). Her research focuses on questions of authority and power in religion. As part of his thesis, he is focusing more specifically on the acquisition of priesthoods, through the particular case of sales and auctions of priesthoods in ancient Greece, in its practical aspects as well as its various social, cultural and religious implications. He is also involved in the Collection of Greek Ritual Norms (CGRN) and Practicalities of Hellenistic Ruler Cults (PHRC) projects.
