" Histoire de " on France Inter

Weekly program presented by Patrick Boucheron, every Sunday at 1 pm   20, on France Inter.

Produced by Xavier Pestuggia and Jérôme Boulet. Production assistant : Ophélie Vivier.

Too much is asked of historians. Some expect them to judge the past and bring order to time. Others expect them to extol the greatness of the nation and reassure us of the solidity of our allegiances. But they are not there to unite or to accuse. They are there to complicate our relationship with the past. For if we ask too much of historians, we can never ask enough of history. It can do more and better, as long as it proves itself to be open, diverse, engaging and indomitable. So anything goes, including talking about controversial subjects. We'll be doing just that, with candor and simplicity, in a series of encounters with today's thinkers and creators, eager to embrace our entire history.

Making history

A series created by Patrick Boucheron in collaboration with Yann Potin for Arte.

Directed by Tamara Erde, Jean-Dominique Ferrucci and Adrien Genoudet.

Patrick Boucheron's new history series looks at history through the prism of objects. Each week, historians tell the story of an object's destiny, combining narrative and analysis. Anything can " make history " : serial objects, generic objects, unique objects, fetishes, materials and documents.

When history makes dates

A series directed by Patrick Boucheron.
Directed by : Denis van Waerebeke, Lucie Cariès and Pascal Goblot.

33, 1492, 1789, 1945... How did these dates find their way into our collective memory ? Who decided which of them were memorable ? How is an event constructed, why, for whom, and how does it end up in history textbooks ? Historian Patrick Boucheron takes a look back at some of these dates to discover how they help us today to grasp the panorama of a global history. For there are many different calendars in the world... Not a single history, but a multitude of intertwined histories.

Nous autres Festival, with Théâtre Le Grand T

Directed by Patrick Boucheron, Catherine Blondeau.
Guest of honor Natalie Zemon Davis.

Bringing together artists, historians, curators, amateurs and students to do history differently - that's the challenge of the Nous autres festival ! The third edition of the festival is devoted to the man-world. With its creative curator, Patrick Boucheron, its guest of honor, American historian Natalie Zemon Davis, its resident bonimenteur, Sébastien Barrier, and all kinds of enthusiasts, Nous autres will resonate the minute waves of singular histories with the great noise of world history. In choosing to focus on man-worlds, this edition pays homage to the multiple incarnations of our humanities. Between the fiction of the self and the fiction of the other, between the tragedy of exile and the jubilation of encounter, between the rooted giants of Pierre Michon and the creolized existences of Édouard Glissant, the question of Nous continues to be explored with the same joyful stubbornness.
