Françoise Combes, astrophysicist, is Professor at the Collège de France, holding the Galaxies and Cosmology Chair. She was awarded the Jules Janssen Prize on November 17, 2017. This prestigious prize was awarded to her by the Société Astronomique de France (SAF).

Françoise Combes' research focuses on the structure of galaxies and their interactions drawing on theory, numerical simulations and observations. She also studies the interstellar medium of galaxies, in particular the molecular gas that gives rise to stars, and is interested in dark matter.

This prize recognizes the international value of her scientific work, as well as her contribution to the widespread dissemination of the sciences of the Universe.
