The administrator, the faculty assembly and the entire Collège de France community were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Jean-Claude Pecker, Professor Emeritus, holder of the Chair of Theoretical Astrophysics (1964-1988), Commander in the Order of the Legion of Honor, Grand Officer in the National Order of Merit, Commander in the Order of the Academic Palms and member of the Academy of Sciences.
They pay tribute to a great scientist whose scientific and human career played an eminent role in the emergence of astrophysics in France after 1945.
