The Avenir Commun Durable - Energy, Environment, Society initiative was born in 2021 fromthe desire of Collège de France professors to take action on the challenges of climate change. On November 17, it is organizing its first colloquium: "Climate change: transition and adaptation", around four dialogues between professors. Beyondthe imperatives of adaptation and transition, this cross-disciplinary colloquiumwillquestion what these terms mean, diagnose the past and the reactions of societies and individuals to a hostile or changing environment, take stock of our means of action in the face of the current emergency , and outline realisticprospects for overcoming this crisis.

Speakers include Patrick Boucheron, Chris Bowler, François-Xavier Fauvelle, Laurent Fonbaustier, Marc Fontecave, Christian Gollier, Dario Mantovani and Lluis Quintana-Murci. The dialogues will be moderated by Caroline Lachowsky, producer and host of the science program " Autour de la question " on RFI, and Catherine de Coppet, journalist and documentary filmmaker.

The initiative, and this symposium, are supported by the Fondation du Collège deFrance , its patrons Faurecia and Saint-Gobain, and its major patrons Covéa and TotalEnergies, who also helped create the Avenir Commun Durable chair.
