The seminar aims to revisit the idea of solidarity, in its various historical, linguistic and institutional dimensions. To this end, it will combine three different points of view. Firstly, a historical perspective, which will enable us to trace the development of the idea of solidarity, from a legal, theological, sociological and biological standpoint. Secondly, from a philological point of view, to examine the translatability of this concept of Western origin into other systems of thought. And finally, a contemporary legal perspective, to shed light on the implementation of the idea of solidarity in the positive law of countries belonging to these different systems.
