Abstract

How can we explain the fundamental paradox of living matter, which combines stability and robustness of form with constant internal dynamics  ? It's not just the genetic information contained within cells, but also the biochemical and molecular processes observable in vivo that are at work in morphogenesis. Added to this is the essential contribution of the mechanical forces that, from molecule to tissue, shape the organism. Dynamics of Living Systems thus emerge from biological control and physical constraints at all scales. Today, the study of these dynamics brings together a rapidly expanding interdisciplinary community that observes, analyzes and models living organisms.
