Paula Stephan is a Research Associate, National Bureau of Economic Research and Professor Emerita of Economics, Georgia State University. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Stephan currently serves as the Co-PI for the Science of Science Funding Initiative, NBER. Her research focuses on the economics of science and the careers of scientists and engineers. She has published in such journals as Science, Nature, the AmericanEconomic Review, The Journal of Economic Literature, and Research Policy. Stephan serves on the SUNY Research Council and the Advisory Board of Politecnico di Milano School of Management. Stephan received her undergraduate degree in economics from Grinnell College (Phi Beta Kappa) and her PhD from the University of Michigan.
