Four highly correlated theses I would like to defend:
- Everything but knowledge is a constitutive failure of belief.
- This is how the intuition that knowing that P has more epistemic value than merely truly believing that P should be explained
- But: When I wonder whether P, I am not trying to be in any epistemic state regarding P
- The relationship between what I take to be conclusive evidence for P and my believing that P is not to be understood on the model of the relationship between what I take to be a practical reason to do something and my doing it.
