Martine Cohen-Salmon is a molecular neurobiologist expert of the neurovascular unit. She is directing the "Physiology and physiopathology of the gliovascular unit" research group and has successfully developed experimental approaches to characterize the role of astrocytes in the regulation of vascular system functions. She recently revealed the time course of the development of the gliovascular interface. She established the critical role of astrocytes in the postnatal development of cerebrovascular functions. She deciphered the molecular repertoire of astrocyte perivascular endfeet and studied its role in physiological and pathological contexts.
