Abstract

Every era invents a new way of writing history, or at least seeks to shed light on the present by questioning the past in a different way. Over the past thirty years, the data produced by archaeology, particularly by preventive excavations, has grown exponentially, opening up new research perspectives on the history of ancient techniques and economy. In the face of the paucity of written sources, archaeology is now delivering a series of documents that enable us to study the actual state of techniques and economic development in Antiquity.
