The 14 lecture hours in 2019, grouped into 7 sessions running from the beginning of January to the end of February, will be devoted primarily to elucidating the determinants of migration. Their consequences for societies of origin and destination will be dealt with at a later date.

The sessions will follow roughly the order of the themes indicated below. They will be based on factual data and readings. Occasionally, however, we will interrupt this thread to shed light on current national and international migration issues.

  1. Theories of migration : modeling causes
  2. Migration realities : the global distribution of flows and diasporas
  3. Moving on to dynamic and interdisciplinary models
  4. Migrant preferences
  5. Not just anyone migrates anywhere
  6. Migration systems outside Western countries
  7. First set of theoretical and practical conclusions
