Migration selectivity (" self-selection " of migrants). The Borjas model. Controversy over the Mexican case (migrants more qualified than the average Mexican population, but less qualified than the US average). Can it be generalized ?

Selection " discretionary " of migrants : on-site recruitment missions, lists of occupations " in tension ", quotas by origin, " points systems "... History of these systems. Who recruits, who selects ? Sometimes employers, sometimes the (federal) state, sometimes the (federated) states or regions. The emergence of mixed solutions. Alternation of actors according to political or economic circumstances (wartime, reconstruction periods, crises).

Correlations between migration flows and economic conditions : strong correlation in new immigration countries (e.g. Southern Europe) ; decoupling in old immigration countries that have stopped labor migration (e.g. Germany, France, Sweden). For what reasons ?
