Abstract

The long period of war experienced by Việt Nam (Japanese occupation, colonial war, war between the two Việt Nam) over more than thirty years had a very heavy impact on the whole of society, on all women, in the north as well as in the south, at the front as well as at the rear. In this lesson, I'll use the testimonies of a number of women to explore the management of daily life in wartime, against a backdrop of chronic shortages and extreme violence (Agent Orange), as well as revolutionary choices involving armed struggle : women as activists and combatants, witnesses and/or victims, or, on the contrary, the desire to escape the choice. I will also look at identities that are denied, stolen, imprisoned, frozen or in question, and in constant reconstruction, as well as a postcolonial approach to the reality of the family and of being a daughter, a woman, a mother in the context of wars and revolutions that are not only politico-military, but also revolutions in mores (individual behavior, relations between men and women), through the analysis of literary and visual sources.
